My maiden name was Babcock. My father was from Sackville & my aunt, also from Sackville, worked at NBTEL. When I was young, I worked weekends as Information Operator in the Moncton NBTel Office, I remember Helen clearly. She was always kind to me, while I was training, and also after. Then I moved to the Business Office to work, after college.

I used to visit Jean and Helen as a young teen for a cup of tea. They always were friendly and had great stories to tell. When we lived in the area, I would try to be the first gentleman to cross their threshold on New Years day with a pine bow to bring luck to the household. She will be greatly missed. I didn’t know Helen personally, but she and Jean were childhood friends of my mother, the late Carol McLeod. The three of them grew up together in Westcock, and I remember my mother talking with such fondness of the Cole sisters. There were inseparable until they finished school in the early 50s. And while a long time has passed since then, I wanted to let Helen’s family know that she’s still part of my own memories of my mother.
