Obituary of Austin Robert Hicks

It is with deep sadness that the family of Austin Robert Hicks, age 83, announces his passing at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

Born in Sackville, NB on March 16, 1940, he was the son of the late Henry Robert Hicks and Dolly Maude (Sears) Hicks.

Austin will be greatly missed by his wife of 19 years, Joan Hilda (Cole) Beal-Hicks; his son, Michael Hicks; his daughter, Wanda (Brian) Harbert; his stepson, Todd Ormand (Tracy) Beal; his step-daughter, Tracy Ann Beal; his sister-in-law, Pauline Hicks; his brothers-in-law, Sidney (Ruth) Cole and Robert Shay; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his first wife, Carol (Spencer) Hicks; his brother, Blaine Hicks; his sisters, Elaine (Hicks) Landry and Yvonne (Hicks) Shay; Yvonne’s son, Jason and infant daughter; his brother-in-law, Edward Landry; his sister-in-law, Madelyn Smith as well as by his brother-in-law, Norman Cole jr.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Austin’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. Austin will be buried in the Sackville Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Austin may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
