My Parents (Ken and Mae Legere) met Joan and Garth in the 1960's in Georgetown, Ontario and became wonderful and live-long friends. So much so, that in 1975 both families moved together to live in Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick. Growing up I always called Joan, "Mrs. Perkins" and years later just couldn't change because it was the closest title I had to calling her "Mom". As a small child I used to walk the short distance to her house, knock on their door and ask "Doan, can I have some cookies"? Her response was always a kind and patient response of "Yes Timmy, but only one for each hand". She was always organizing events for us "kids on the block" including: pool parties with watermelon, inviting us to watch the Santa Claus parade on their colour T.V. and going out Christmas carolling and then having hot chocolate. Her passing is bitter/sweet. We've lost a wonderful lady and will miss her very much, but, I hope she and Mom are now enjoying a wonderful reunion in Heaven.
Much Love,
Tim (Timmy) Legere
