Obituary of Edith Blanche (Estabrooks) Hicks

We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Edith Hicks at her residence at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville. Edith passed away with her loving family by her side on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the age of 101.

Born on July 23, 1920 in Middle Sackville, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Minnie (Mountain) and Freeland Estabrooks.

Edith will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Robert (Sandra) of Sackville and Dave (Brenda) of Miramichi; her granddaughter, Charlene (Stacy) Geldart; her grandson, Michael Quinn, as well as by her great-granddaughters, Michelle Quinn and Mattison Quinn

Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Howard Havelock Hicks; her brothers, Harvey and Hedley; her sisters, Grace and Marion; her grandson, Brian Hicks; her daughters-in-law, Margaret (Quinn) and Doreen (Tait); her granddaughter-in-law, Virginia Quinn, as well as by an infant sister.

Edith’s family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to the Drew Nursing Home staff for the wonderful care that she received during her stay there.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Edith’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visiting hours or funeral service.  A private family graveside service and burial will take place at a later date in the Four Corners Cemetery.

If so desired, donations in memory of Edith may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
