Domenic Zappia

Obituary of Domenic Zappia

It is with deep sadness that the family of Domenic Zappia, age 83, announces his passing on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Moncton Hospital.

Born in Plati, Italy on January 29, 1939, he was the son of the late Anna (Pangalo) and Giuseppe Zappia.

From decades as a restauranteur in Cornwall (Zappia’s) and Sackville (Antonio’s), Dom was well-known and loved by all whom he met.  He was quick with a joke (or a light of your smoke) and a lover of music. Dom loved singing and dancing, spending time with his family and friends, and, of course, playing cards.  He was a caring friend, loving father and grandfather and a true life of the party. He believed that the party didn’t start until he got there, and his energy, stories and his laugh will be missed by all who knew him.

Dom will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Karen Zappia (Leonard); his children, Anna Zappia (Trent Mann), Joe Zappia (Bromlyn Ridgley), Leonard (Suzanne) Zappia, Rocco Zappia and Katherine Zappia (Jake McFarland); his siblings, Caterina (Emidio) Peloso, Maria (deceased, Gino) Peloso, Francesco (Shirley) Zappia, Paola (Micheale) Domanico and Lisa (deceased, Remo) Marcantonio; his grandchildren, Matteo Mann, Domenico Zappia, Domenic Cameron Zappia and Lucy Zappia; adored by his many nieces and nephews and their families.

Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his first wife, Joan Greenough, as well as by his brother, Antonio (living, Karen) Zappia.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Domenic’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A burial will take place in the spring in Cornwall, Ontario.
