Our sincere condolences to the whole Zappia family on the loss of Domenic. My personal connection with the Zappia family began in Cornwall while attending St. Lawrence High School and knowing brothers "Tony" and "Frank" and of course going to the best pizza joint - Zappia;s Restaurant at the foot of the International Bridge connecting Cornwall with Akwesasne. I was re-connected to the Zappias when my family moved to Sackville and we all got to know Domenic and his son Joey and daughter Anna On behalf of my boys Nat, Gee, Garrison and my wife Harriet, we join you in your sorrow and remembrance of Domenic.

Dear Anna, Joey, Lenny and all of your families...I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. Although I guess not entirely unexpected, it was still such a sad piece of news. Dom was one of those influential characters and friends I met during my early days in Sackville. He did so much for us at MtA athletics over the years - always so friendly and generous - so jocular and entertaining - and always so helpful (not to mention his food was always delicious). He and his family (you all) started a friendship with our Mounties, the University, and Sackville that began a long time ago, and still exists today. While he hadn't been around Sackville for the past several years, he will always be remembered and held dearly by those who had the privilege of knowing him back in those early Antonio's days!! My sincere condolences to you all in your loss - our loss too. He was a special guy. Please take care and stay safe. Hugs Sue

I have wonderful memories of my brother Dom. Growing up in Cornwall in 1951 was not easy. Our father sustained a severe back injury shortly after our arrival to Canada and was hospitalized in Toronto for approximately one and a half years. Being the eldest son, Dom took his place as the patriarch of the family. He left school and worked at many jobs to help my mother as we were 7 children. Throughout my growing years I have always been very close to Dom. We were neighbours in Ottawa, living just a short walk from each other. Dom and my husband Remo became were very close and never a day went by without them meeting up. I miss you Dom. You are now at peace with Mom, Dad, Tony and Remo. You will all live in our hearts forever. Your baby sister Lisa

He made my first every pizza!!! It was fun to watch him on a Saturday night throw the dough in the air and create his magic!
He was always kind.
I more recently saw him as you have described him being the life of the party dancing with the ladies at the home where he lived. My friend was playing accordion for my Aunt who lives there and Domenic was on the floor dancing. His spirit was so alive with joy. Nice thoughts of him.
Sincere condolences for your loss.

A great and funny man. When I attended Mt. A in the early 80s, I can claim with all sincerity the he was personally responsible for making me believe that pizza was one of the mandatory food groups in Canada. As a result, I've had a least one a month for all of these years. It was only at the age of 61, I finally realized that he was just pulling my leg. Thanks for all the laughs Dom and do rest in peace, you were one of a kind and will be missed.

Dear Karen and family. My sincere and deepest sympathies on the passing of Dominic. The Cornwall McAlears (Joe, Louise & family) and the Zappias knew each other well. We attended the same church and school. I played hockey with Tony and enjoyed many pizzas with friends and family at the restaurant. Wonderful memories of our time together growing up. My wife Dorothy passed away April/10/2019 and I can appreciate the sadness that you are experiencing. Knowing Dominic, he would want his family and friends to carry on enjoying life, otherwise it is a terrible waste. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you say your final farewell to Dominic. My heartfelt condolences. Michael McAlear

To the Zappia family, my sincere condolences regarding the loss of Domenic. Although Frank keeps telling me "The1960s were nothing but hard work", I still remember some pretty good times. And lots of laughs, whether working beside Dom making pizzas, cleaning up after hours, having him send us to the basement, to press grapes (nope, that was Papà) or some kind of delivery, to the boys playing cards upstairs and later, to his own home. For whatever reason, I always felt like I was part of the family. There might be a few people that still what Dom would say, before I would answer. "Four, Five, Six". I can hear you laughing Dom! May you rest in peace my friend.

Dear Anna, Joey, Lenny and family,
Condolences on your dad's passing. I, like so many in Sackville, grew up on Antonio's (and Joey's) pizza. Your dad always was so welcoming and friendly. I looked forward to take-out from Antonio's every Friday as a kid. Thinking of you and your family in this difficult time.

Dear Anna , Trent, Joey and family,
I am so sorry to learn of the passing of your father and father in law. I have many treasured memories of this wonderful man. I was fortunate to be a member of his poker club in days gone by. Will not share those stories for public view, but they will have a special place in my memory bank.
He was very proud of the many accomplishments of his family. Thinking of you all as you gather to remember and share memories of Dom.
Sincerely, Jack Drover.
