Obituary of Dorothy Cora Polley
Upper Cape, N.B.- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Polley on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital after a short battle with cancer. Dorothy passed away with her family by her side, at the age of 86.
Born in Moncton, N.B. on September 12, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Christopher and Cora (Fields) Harper.
Dorothy was employed with N.B. Tel and C.N. Marine Restaurant in Cape Tormentine as a supervisor. She also worked at Freddy White’s Store and Dud Coles Store from where she retired. Dorothy was a very caring person who touched many lives, was the knitting queen, a renowned pickle, jam and jelly maker as well as a special birthday cake maker. Dorothy also cared for many stray cats over the last few years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother as well as a great friend to many.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her children, Helen (Allen) Wall; Tony (Valerie) Polley; Terry (Kathy) Polley and Don (Robynn) Polley; daughter-in-law, Karen Polley; grandchildren, Shannon and Patrick Wall, Angela Rafuse, Christopher Polley, Sarah Fillmore, Terri Mae, Tiffany and Bailey Polley and Kelsey and Brooke Polley; great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Maddison, Riah, Taylor, Riley, Casey, Erica, Emma, Alexa, Savannah, Chance, Dakota, Kerissa, Keaghan, Damien, Daxon and Decklin; sisters-in-law, Evelyn and Alphena; her special Aunt Hildred (Hiddy), as well as by many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Dorsey Polley and by her two brothers, Jerry and Russell Harper.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-8188. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at the Fernwood Cemetery in Port Elgin, N.B. on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 2 pm with William Drysdale, DLM officiating.
