Obituary of E.Ross Monk
Sackville, N.B.- It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Earl Ross Monk on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Ross was 78 years of age.
Born in Dartmouth, N.S. on February 9, 1938, he was the son of the late Lorraine Helena (Duffy) and Earl Ross Monk.
Ross was passionate about his extensive community involvement and was the Mayor of Dorchester, N.B. for many years. During his working career, Ross worked for 38 years at the Dorchester Penitentiary, with Corrections Canada and served as Regional Vice President of PSAC for many years. In recent years, Ross enjoyed golfing, as well as his morning coffee gatherings with his friends.
Ross will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Catherine Anne (Whitworth); his daughters, Danette Marie (Ron Furlotte) of Moncton, N.B. and Donna Leigh of Dartmouth, N.S.; his son, Damion (Kimberly) Monk of Sackville, N.B.; his brothers, John “Jackie” (Donna) Monk of Dartmouth, N.S. and Scott Monk of Alberta; his three grandchildren, Jarrod Monk, Jaden Monk and Ryan Furlotte and by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ross was predeceased by his son, David James Monk in 2002 and by his nephew, John Monk.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Ross’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visiting hours or funeral service at this time.
