Obituary of Donald Carl Hicks
It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Carl Hicks announce his passing at the Drew Nursing Home on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at the age of 80.
Born on January 19, 1944 in Middle Sackville, NB, he was the son of the late Gaius Earl and Rena Jane (Hicks) Hicks.
Donald was employed for most of his working life with Irving, delivering oil. He loved to spend time at the camp with Lorraine and his family, cutting wood and hunting. In earlier years, Donald and Lorraine were members of the Kinsmen and Kinnette Club and he was once Kinsman of The Year. Donald always had a garden and he and Lorraine loved their fur babies (kitties) very much. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Donald will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Lorraine Lee (Milner) Hicks; his children, Tammy Hicks and Christopher Hicks (Jo-Ann Reynolds); his grandchildren, Aaron Hicks (Felicia) and Matthew Hicks (Megan Wheaton); his great-granddaughters, Moyrah Hicks and Daphnee Hicks; his sister, Flora Mitton; his sister-in-law, Geraldine (Estabrooks) Hicks, as well as by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his sisters, Olive (Charlie) Patterson, Jean (Ray) Stone, Lorena (Ed) Lewis, Dora (Joe) Snowdon and Connie in infancy; his brothers, Denver (Connie) Hicks, Alex Hicks and Thorald and Robert in infancy; his sisters-in-law, Eileen (Harold) Milner and Linda (John) Mitton; his brothers-in-law, Elmer Mitton, Frank (Maddie) Milner and Harry (Shirley) Milner, as well as by his mother and father-in-law, Serena (Ward) and John Milner.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Donald’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visiting hours or funeral service.
Donations in memory of Donald may be made to the Westcock Cemetery, Drew Nursing Home, Main Street Baptist Church, Alzheimer’s Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
