Obituary of Floyd Edgar Wheaton

It is with deep sadness that the family of Floyd Edgar Wheaton announces his passing at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the age of 93. Floyd was born, brought up and lived his whole life in the family home in Midgic.

Born on August 30, 1931 in Midgic, NB, he was the son of the late Merley James Wheaton and Ethel May (Phinney).

Floyd loved to farm, garden, was an avid card player, but most of all he loved to torment and create laughter for those around him. Everyone knew Floyd loved to talk up the famous Midgic Airport where he was known as the Captain. He was a great supporter of many churches regardless of their denomination. Floyd worked many jobs over the years, but his most memorable job was the twenty-one years he spent at Mount Allison University before he retired in 1996.

Floyd is survived by his wife of fifty two years, Dianne of Midgic, NB; his son, Merley (Mark Nagy) Wheaton of Ontario; his two daughters, Berdie (Dana) Fisher of Florenceville, NB and Linda Wheaton of Sackville, NB; his four chosen children, Jocelyn (Vernon) Allen of Bass River, NB, Doug (Jen) Crosthwaite of Dorchester, NB , Danny (Lois) Wheaton, Sackville, NB and Kathy Wheaton (John) of Dorchester, NB; his thirteen grandchildren, Clara, Maeve, Eliza, Denise, Andrew, Zachary, Rebecca, Jessica, Nicole, Zachary C., Abby, Evan and Katelyn; his special fur babies, Justin Trudeau (Cat) and Hercules (Dog); his sisters, Caissie Harper; his sister-in-law, Maddy Wheaton, as well as by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his sisters, Margaret (William), Geneva (Beverly), Neta (Laurie) Donalda (Dutch) and Erma (Winston); his brothers, Doug (Lucy), Herman (Gertrude), Clarence (Betty), Cecil (Muriel) and Retias; his son-in-law, Gordon Fearon; his father and mother-in-law, Sherman (Verna) Richards, as well as by many extended family members.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visiting hours will take place at the funeral home on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 1-3 pm. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at the Midgic Cemetery with Pastor Andrew Swanson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Floyd may be made to the Midgic Cemetery, the IWK, the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
