Dear Family & Friends of Ellen -
On behalf of the Maritime United Church Women, please accept our condolences on her death. Reading her obituary, I learned that she had many interests, including the UCW. Her absence will be felt not only by you, her children and grandchildren, but by her sisters in the UCW.
Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to meet her myself. But we feel the loss when any member of a UCW unit dies, even if we have not known them as individuals. Please be assured that Ellen, will be remembered by all of us, as we continue on in the work she was also a part of, knowing that we have lost yet another of our flock of United Church Women. And she will be remembered during the Memorial Service at our Annual MUCW Meeting next year.
As UCW members, we are proud to have had Ellen in our ranks.
With sincere sympathy,
Michèle Ashby
Social Secretary
Maritime United Church Women

Dear George, Doug, Uncle Carl and family,
Sorry to read of Ellen's passing. We have known the Ayer family since the 1960's. I have fond memories of our days at our family's summer cottages in Ponte du Chene and later when George, Doug and family moved to Fredericton. George and I became good friends. I believe Doug was my brother, Ian's age (now 72 - me 74). Ian lives in Calgary, FYI. I am sorry we did not keep in touch after high school but we had some good times.
I believe I have only one photo of George taken in March 1967. I recall the girl in the photo is Sharon, a classmate.
I also attach a photo taken in November 2019 of my self, my father Bruce and brother Ian. Dad was a great friend of Jim and Ellen beginning from before the "Point" days. I recall meeting the family for the first time when we stayed overnight at their home in Digby NS probably in 1960. Dad and Ellen were about the same age as died last year at age 103. Our mother, Evelyn died in 2019.
I am sure they are re-united in heaven enjoying daily "happy hours"!!
