I just found out about Evelyn's passing this weekend. Evelyn took care of my parents, Hubert and Ida Purdy for over 20 years but no one in my family felt Evelyn was just a caretaker. She did take VERY good care of them but she also did their banking, shopped for them, did their gardening when Dad could no longer manage and everything that a loving and caring person would do for/with their family or friends. She also put up with all of the rest of us :) which can be trying on anyone's nerves. She always had a smile for us and all of our kids. Mum and Dad knew that they had hit the jackpot when Evelyn came into our lives. When I told my youngest son about Evelyn's passing he said he always felt she was family and she was always at the house when he visited them. She cared for and watched out for them so lovingly. I am very sad that Evelyn has left this world but while she was here she spread her humour, caring and most importantly, her love to those all around.

I, too, offer my condolences to the family. Aunt Evelyn was a regular part of my childhood summer vacations. She always visited her mother and older sister Marguerite (my mom) the first week of July. My school year would end the last week of June and when Aunt Evelyn arrived, I knew the summer fun had begun!
I love you Aunt Evelyn! May you rest in peace.

My sincere sympathy to Monica, Kyler and Karisa and to my remaining sisters and brothers ( Kathy, Mac and David). Out of 10 children, only the four of us are left. I enjoyed every moment with Ev and I appreciate Monica you opening your home so we could spend time with her during that last week. Special moments. I will think of her everyday and miss her dearly.

My deepest condolences to Monica, Evies grandchildren, Kyler Paquette and Karisa Paquette; and her step-children, Jeff (Wanda) Ayer and Shelly (Doug) Haley and all of the Melanson family. Her laughter, sense of humor and kindness touched each of us. She's left her hand imprint on our souls. I was named after her, so growing up she was " Big Evie" and I was " Little Evie", until I outgrew her in height and width, then those endearments became confusing as she was now " Little Evie". I'm glad the family didn't use " Older" and " Younger", as that wouldn't work, as she never looked her age!!!
My best memory is my Dad painting nail polish on her toes, as she stood on the picnic table, her laughter I will always remember!
