Phyllis and family. I was so sorry to learn of Ralph's death. Despite it being 60 years since we were at Mount A., we still kept in touch through facebook. I loved his sense of humour and have so many memories of time at university and his frequent visits to my kitchen in the first year we lived in Sackville. You were lucky to have so many wonderful years together and will have the memory of that forever. Sincerely, Stephanie (nee Allanach) Chazalon

My condolences to the Stopps family,
I was one of the very fortunate students to have had Mr.Stopps as a teacher for chemistry. His knowledge and ability to explain the concepts of this science went above and beyond.I enjoyed his class because of his seriousness mixed with his witty remarks and dry humour that would catch you by surprise. As a student we only realize sometimes the impact a teacher has had when we leave and therefore they are not always thanked for their contributions. For me Mr.Stopps gave me an appreciation for the sciences.I am so sorry to hear that he had been ill for some time .To his family please except my deepest condolences.

Phyllis and family, my condolences on your loss. While I did not have Mr. Stopps as a teacher, I fondly remember his many smart quips and turns of phrases, his unique sense of humour and his easy-going nature in the hallways of TRHS. Rest in peace Sir.

To Mrs. Stopps & Family; Our sincere condolences to you & your Family on the passing of Mr Stopps. I had Mr Stopps as a teacher from Grade 8 on through my High School years & can honestly say he was one of the most interesting teachers I ever had & so was one of my favorites. After I was finished school I would see him from time to time in Town & he would always take the time to stop & chat ( sometimes about old motorcycles ). I know he will be greatly missed by all who knew him . Mr Stopps will always be remembered by me as a fine fellow & a wonderful teacher. Sincerely, Shelly & Dave Bailie

My sincere condolences to the family . Mr Stopps was my chemistry teacher the first year of TRHS (71/72) I recall one day something blowing up which clearly was not the expected result … and Mr Stopps just said “RATS” .. that took the fear out of the explosion .. a lasting memory ! And chemistry factored heavily in my scientific life ! Thank you Mr Stopps ..RIP!

Sorry for your loss and I will see you on Thursday. I had Ralph for 3 years, Chemistry and Physics , enjoyed and always looked forward to his classes.
I really appreciated the high quality of teaching when later I was breezing through engineering while others struggled.
The other thing was that he expected his students to go beyond doing their best and that is something I have carried all through life.
Ralph will be missed but never forgotten

Our sincere condolences from Ada Ramsay, daughter Evelyn Ramsay of Riverview and son Bert and wife Carolyn Ramsay of New Hampshire to you and your family. We enjoyed Ralph's wit, his smile and twinkle in his eye! Our Dad - Hal Ramsay could spend hours talking to Ralph on motorcycles, cars and mechanics! Bert as well, it's that mechanical engineering mind that captures so much detail! I'd like to think he and Dad are in heaven talking motorcycles, free of pain and soaring free! Such a wonderful, quiet spirit Ralph had.

My condolences to the entire Stopps family. Mr Stopps was a wonderful chemistry teacher at Tantramar Regional High School. He was a caring instructor for the serious stuff like the concepts of moles and molarity; where it became evident in later studies that we were well prepared. And, there were also the front of class ‘demonstrations’ that laboratory experiments do not always come out as planned, at least this was my recollection on at least a few occasions. But as it turned out, also important lessons for when I came to have to stand in front of the class. Mr Stopps is also remembered for his motorcycle, and for that sparkle of dry wit that would suddenly erupt upon occasion, that we had to try to catch.

To Phyllis, children and grandchildren, our sincere sympathy to you all. Robert was Ralph's colleague at Tantramar for many years. They had many conversations about farming and the history of the surrounding marshes. Ralph was an unassuming, quiet and kind man who always tried to make his students understand science. May your memories bring you strength at this difficult time. Rest in peace, free of pain, Mr. Stopps. Robert and Barbara Wheaton

Mr. Stopps taught me 3 of the 4 science classes I took in high school and I knew even then that I was very fortunate. He was such a good teacher and a kind person. I always appreciated his dry wit and his ability to make the mysteries of chemistry and physics accessible to a bunch of teenagers. My deepest condolences for you loss. I hope you can take comfort in knowing that he is and will be fondly remembered.

Dear Phyllis and family
I was so sorry to read this morning that Ralph had passed away. We were "neighbours" teaching at Tantramar for several years and was always kind and supportive, someone to be depended on. I recall my older son saying how he enjoyed Ralph's dry , subtle wit in class and what a good teacher he was.
With warm sympathy, Kathleen Mcmullen
