So sorry to hear of Vernons passing. Vernon would come in and get his car worked on or just to say HI, Vernon would sit and talk about his cats that he had. The bear that tried to get in and feeding all he birds at his place he sure did have a heart of gold for animals he like the company of out dogs when he was here too. A funny little story of Vernon he went to the barrel laundry mat in Amherst on Saturdays early morning and Firth and I was driving by I said to Firth we should go and get Vernon a coffee to have while he waits for his laundry he was sitting in side talking to gentlemen while he was there. I walked in with a coffee in hand and passed it to Vernon and he turned and looked at me and the biggest smile on his face, the other guy said to him and you said you did't know anyone over here and this lady just drops you off a coffee ha ha Vernon replied oh that's Lisa she works at the shop that I get my car fixed at she will make me a coffee there too. Vernon never for got that day and would bring it up in conversation when he was by.Well Vernon thank you for all your kindness and glad to say we knew you. Now your new journey has begun for you so long.

Well the "Bear Whisper" won't have to punch that bear in the paw this year! Sure will miss hearing that bear whistle, but I'm sure you'll still be there blowing it! I'm listening....

Condolences to Vern's family, I grew up with Vernie's family on Wellington st. In Sackville. Many times in the summer there was always a group of guys with guitars and drums and singers gathering on the huge veranda on the house where the Chambers lived at the bottom of the street, you could hear them all the way uptown. Good memories RIP Vern.

So sad to read of Vernon's passing. Such a nice man and always put the well being of his cats first. I hope they have been found new homes

Although I never met my great-uncle Vern he always sent my sister and me unconventional Christmas gifts (i.e., hats in the attached picture). This gave me a sense of his quirky personality, which undoubtedly runs in the family.
I can imagine that he was a loving and kind soul with a generous heart. I wish I had met him, and I am
deeply saddened to know that I never will.
Rest easy uncle.
With love,
Jolene
