Obituary of Robert Hudson Goodwin

Robert Hudson Goodwin, a devoted family man, skilled woodsman, and faithful servant of Jehovah, passed away on March 15, 2024, at the age of 90. From the town of Port Elgin, New Brunswick, Bob, as he was fondly known, led a life rich with love, hard work, and dedication.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pauline Marguerite Goodwin (Briggs), and his son, (Mark) Shane Goodwin. Together, Bob and Pauline raised a family of 12 children, creating a legacy that will endure through generations.

Surviving Bob are his children Deborah Butler (Danny), Dawn Phinney (Mike), Allan Goodwin (Susan), Cindy Bougie (Jean), Raymon Goodwin (Sandra), Jane Nolin (Jean), Shelley Goodwin, David Goodwin (Chantal), Ruth Goodwin, Leslie Goodwin (Desiree), and Susan Atkinson (Mark). Bob was also a proud grandfather to 25 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 11 great-grandchildren. Additionally, he leaves behind his sisters Pat Goodwin, Bonnie Sprague, and Gail Chapman, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob spent the majority of his life in the Port Elgin area, where he carved a living from the land he loved. A skilled logger, he provided for his family through the foresting industry, showcasing his strength and work ethic. Later in life, he transitioned to a career in silviculture, continuing to nurture and care for the forests he held dear.

A man of the outdoors, Bob had a deep love for creation. He and Pauline shared a passion for gardening, and Bob was known for his towering sunflower plants. An avid hunter and fisherman, he found solace and joy in the wilderness.

Bob's creativity knew no bounds, as he built several gazebos from scratch, each a testament to his skill and ingenuity. In quieter moments, he found pleasure in the world of literature, with Louis L'Amour as one of his favorite authors.

A man of friendly competition, Bob enjoyed card games, thoroughly enjoying besting Pauline at games like crib and 200. He also enjoyed a good golf day or game of horse shoes with his family. Yet, beyond his hobbies and talents, Bob's true passion lay in his faith as a faithful witness of Jehovah.

Bob and Pauline were known throughout the area for their unwavering dedication to their faith as Jehovah's Witnesses since 1963. Bob's love for the ministry was evident to all who knew him, as he tirelessly shared hope from the Bible with everyone he encountered.

In the memory of those who knew him, Bob Goodwin will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, proud grandfather, lover of nature, and faithful servant of Jehovah. His legacy of love, faith, and kindness will be remembered by those who knew him.
