Obituary of Catherine Janet (Beal) Colwell

It is with deep sadness that the family of Catherine Colwell announces her passing on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the age of 73. Cathy passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital following a short battle with cancer, with her family by her side.

Born on March 22, 1950 in Sackville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Kathleen Eudavilla (Corbett) Beal and Norman Edward Beal.

Cathy was a graduate of Mount Allison University, where she was also employed until her retirement. She was a volunteer for St. John Ambulance as well as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #26, Sackville. Cathy enjoyed trips to PEI, lobster rolls, gardening, bird watching, Rockport tours, music and dancing. Cathy was compassionate and always appreciated others who showed her kindness and care when she needed it. She was a proud Frosty Hollow girl, was well-known in the community and was an outgoing person who lived her life to the fullest. Cathy especially loved spending time with her girls and her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cathy will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Melanie Colwell of Sackville, NB, Melissa Colwell of Moncton, NB and Megan Colwell (Ryan Wheaton) of Halifax, NS; her grandchildren, Riley Colwell, Quinn Rohloff, Calla Wheaton and Asher Wheaton; her sisters, Charlene (John) Horwood of Kingston, Ontario, Marilyn Lirette of Sackville, NB, Carol (Tony) Wheaton of Frosty Hollow, NB and Beth Steeves (the late Gordon Steeves) of Frosty Hollow, NB; her brother, Edward (Crystal) Beal of Moncton, NB, as well as by her special nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. Visiting hours will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 5-8 pm. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 2 pm. The burial will take place in the spring in the Sackville Cemetery.
