Wally was my Mentor from a young boy, I tagged along with him to sporting events, which encouraged me to be active in sports. His children were like extended family and I helped them as much as I could. He even got me curling!, though I couldn't lift the rocks and when I did I dropped them and cracked the ice. He was everywhere I was playing something or other, I have a picture he took of me for the Tribune with the new outdoor basketball courts. I have that picture of me as a squirt, and me as a 6'5" AUAAplayer. Every town that is able to recruit a supporter for their athletes like Wally will be blessed.
And all we jocked were blessed by him. He suffered immense losses in his family, all were close friends and I mentored David who became a great athlete.
My God bless Wally Sears and all who cheered him and his athletes.

So sorry to learn of your dad’s passing. As much as we understand the circle of life it still leaves us with heavy heart. I use to run into your dad when I worked at Hawk in Sackville – he was well-known and respected throughout the community for his numerous contributions. And I met both your parents during our au pair days. Thinking of you during this very sad time. Be patient with yourselves as you walk through your grief.
Thinking of you at this very sad time,

Wallie was a pillar of the community I am always proud to have all called my home where I grew up. A good family friend, he always took a special interest in my journalism career which started at the Sackville Tribune-Post. From my time at CBC North in Iqaluit to my Olympic adventures Wallie always kept tabs on what I was up to. His memory will live on in all of us.

Janet & Paula, I was speaking with my Aunt Shirley tonight and she told me your Dad passed away so I wanted to extend my sincere condolences. I have very fond memories of your Dad - both during our volleyball & basketball games, the yearly ice-skating races held at Mount A's rink but also when we'd be just hanging out at your house. It was always so nice to meet up with him down town during some of my summer visits to Sackville,

For a number of years Gordie and I lived across Hillcrest Street from Wallie and Norma. They were always so kind, helpful and neighborly - just who you would want for neighbours. We would arrive home after work and see their front storm door open and an arm and wine glass appear inviting us to walk over for a glass. Sometimes it was several glasses. Our conversations many times went to Mount A which Wallie loved. He would visit me at my office when he was ready to make a donation to Mount A and his various interests on campus.
I will never forget Wallie and Norma and cherish the friendship we shared. Rest well dear friend and say hello to Norma for me.

Wallie (and previously Norma) has been a wonderful supporter and encourager to all of us at Open Sky Co-operative over the years. Relationships have been built with participants and staff through attending weekly coffee hours and coming reliably to events at the farm. Wallie’s genuine interest in the lives of staff and participants has made a positive influence and helped create a sense of connection to community. Our hearts are sad, but also deeply grateful for all that he gave over the years. He will be dearly missed.

We feel incredibly fortunate to have met such an amazing man back in 1999 at the United Church in Sackville. Over the years, we've shared countless special moments, from sitting together in the back row at church to attending hockey games, celebrating family milestones, exchanging frequent emails, and engaging in meaningful conversations filled with wisdom and laughter. Wallie Sears, you've been a cherished family friend, a steadfast supporter, and a beautiful soul. Rest in peace. Deepest condolences to Janet, Paula and families at this time.

We are so sad to learn of the loss of one of Sackville's finest. Wallie and Norma were always so welcoming every time we would visit. Wallie was the first one to interview us and our work way back in Aug of 1995, and he never forgot about us after that. How he had the time to do all that he did is incredible, the lives he has touched is endless and will never be forgotten. We are forever honoured that Wallie and his family gave us the greatest gift in 2018, the donation of his family's homestead land to AWI. It will be forever known as The Sears Sanctuary. Rest easy Wallie, give a hug to Norma. Our sincerest condolences to Paula and her family, for sharing your dad with all of us.
