Obituary of Lorne Alfred Wells
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lorne Alfred Wells on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center. Lorne passed away with his wife by his side at the age of 83.
Born in Bayfield, NB on April 5, 1940, he was the son of the late Myrtle Minerva (Fields) Wells and Harvey Oulton Wells.
Lorne was loved by many, was a hard worker, whether it was on the farm growing up, working in the woods, building houses or fixing things that needed to be repaired. He had his own business doing carpentry until he took employment with Sealand Freezers until his retirement. Lorne loved going to the camp with friends hunting, his fishing trips to Nfld with the bus gang or just going out for a country road drive. In the last few years, he enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, watching game shows, scratching tickets and going for drives with Ida, Eric and Bennie. Lorne loved having visitors to tell his stories to and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Lorne will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Ida Belle (Estabrooks) Wells; his children, Bonnie (Bruce) Vinet-Paradis, Donald (Lorna) Wells, Barbara (late William) Scoggins, Brenda (Robert) Wells, Sheila (Mike) Wells and Brian (Jennifer) Wells; his brother, Lewis (Donna) Wells; his sister-in-law, Katherine (late Victor) Wells; his grandchildren, Amy, Jessica, Kyle, Katelyn, Aaron, Jeffrey, Dawn, Samantha, Matthew, Cassey, Becky, Michael, Peter, Aiden, Dawson, Morgan and Kaelyn; his 29 great-grandchildren; his 2 great-great grandchildren, as well as by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his brother, Victor Ormand Wells; his son-in-law, William Scoggins, as well as by his grandson, Aart terBeek.
Lorne’s family would like to thank the Nurses and Doctors at the Amherst Hospital for their wonderful care and kindness during his last days.
