Obituary of Kenneth E. Nicol
It is with broken hearts that we must announce the passing of Kenneth E. Nicol on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Ken passed away at the Sackville Memorial Hospital at the age of 75 with his family by his side.
Born in Campbellton, NB on January 15, 1948, he was the son of the late Noble Nicol and Attrude “Trudy” Bertha (Flowers).
Anybody who knew Ken, knows he lived life to the fullest and his daughters were his pride and joy.
Ken enjoyed a 30+ year career in the Window Industry, where colleagues and customers became friends. Outside of work, Ken was a proud Volunteer Firefighter for 27 years with the Sackville Fire Department and was recently presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his service. He was a member of the Sackville Curling Club for 40 years, Past President for two terms and a member of the Sackville Golf Club (although it didn’t seem to improve his score!). He was always up for an adventure and loved nothing more than to hit the road with Sharon. They travelled extensively and loved rolling down the road, hauling their fifth wheel. After many years of travel, they set up their RV permanently at Pine Cone Campground in Sussex, NB, Ken’s “Happy Place”. Ken was an avid NASCAR fan (always #9) and never said no to a card game. Ken will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Sharon (Duffy) Nicol, as well as by his daughters, Paula (Nic Hart) and Pamela (Neil McIssac).
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Ken’s wishes, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 2-4 PM at the Sackville Curling Club. All are welcome to attend to share stories and to remember Ken.
If so desired, donations in memory of Ken may be made to the Sackville Fire Department, Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or to the charity of one’s choice.
On-line condolences and sharing of memories may be forwarded to the family through our website www.campbellsfuneralhome.com or by visiting the funeral home Facebook page.
