Obituary of Garry Joseph Eugene Vivarais
Garry passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023 at the Moncton Hospital in his 67th year. He had a short but courageous fight with Burkitt lymphoma.
Garry was born in Cornwall, Ontario on October 25th, 1957. He joined the Armed Forces in 1977 where he became a transport driver. He served in Kingston, Penhold, Chilliwack and Calgary as well as tours in Cyprus and Bosnia.
While in the military, Garry met the love of his life Philis (Small). They wed in 1982 and shared 40 beautiful years together. He has two daughters who he adored, Jansene and Faith (Justin). His newest love was his granddaughter, Lita who is missing her papa.
After his retirement from the military (19 years), he relocated to Kingston, ON where he became employed at city transit until his retirement in 2021. He later moved to Midgic, NB to be closer to family.
Dear son of his late parents, Lawrence and May (Ward), as well as brother to his late sister, Dawn Goudie (Bryan) and his late brother, Mark (Sandy).
Survived by his sisters, Sharon D'Aprile (Joe), Karen Frechette (Richard) and his brother, Michael (Anne).
His favorite times were spent with his family where you could hear his gregarious laugh when catching him trying to cheat at cards.
Garry was extremely generous and dependable, with a huge heart and kind soul. Always able to make you laugh. Garry will be greatly missed by his family and friends who loved him dearly.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. On his birthday, October 25th, 2023 a celebration of life will take place at James Reid Reception Center, 1900 John Counter Blvd Kingston, ON. A graveside service will take place on October 26, 2023 at the Cataraqui Cemetery, Kingston, Ontario.
