I am so shocked and sorry to learn today of dear Laurie’s passing. She was a sparkling, beautiful person, and did so many things well. Many years ago, I commissioned Laurie to make me a silver ring with a galloping horse and two stars on it. I still wear that fine ring to this day, and always think of her when I do. Dear David. I was so shocked and sorry to read about your loss of Lorrie. It's been so many years ago that we all worked throughout the nights trying desperately to meet publication and printing deadlines for various athletics and Mount Allison magazines etc. While I didn't personally know Lorrie really well, I do know her loss is so deeply painful for you and the many, many others who had the privilege of knowing her well. I returned to Sackville this week from the US for a visit, and heard of Lorrie’s passing. I have her Jolicure Cats book, and have read it a few times. Being a cat person made me feel really connected to her through these magical stories ….I often thought it would make a great movie! I’m so sorry, she will be very much missed.

David and family…I’m in shock and so sorry to learn of Lorrie’s passing. I enjoyed my many years of working with her on Squire, from the multitude of small tourism ads to the bigger clients. She had so many talents, never boastful. Taking Oggie to work before it was fashionable was a true work perk for us all. I admired her love for animals and the natural world which she quietly tended to. Lorrie was like the yin to your yang. You both had such diverse interests yet shared so much in common. Both independent yet so supportive of each other’s endeavours. Through all you’ve accomplished together, she remained true to herself – beautifully authentic. She will be sorely missed in many circles. Thinking of you as you navigate this new unwelcomed path. With heavy heart, my thoughts are with you and your family.

So sorry to hear of Lorrie’s passing. When I worked with her at Hawk wayyy back in the early 90s, she was the stable core of the art studio, tolerant of us orbiting artists, but maintaining a firm hand at the wheel. She was savvy and bright, and loved people, art and animals. My sincere condolences to family.

I agree. It is too sad to be true. My heart goes out to David and all of Lorrie’s family and friends.
I met Lorrie in high school at BHS. Every reunion after graduation that I met up with her I was always astounded that she had not changed a bit. The same beautiful long, blonde hair, and the bangs. But Lorrie was more than beautiful on the outside, she was truly beautiful inside as well.
Nine years ago, I was met with some serious health issues and right from the get-go Lorrie was sending cards little gifts and her delightful books to raise my spirit.
I will always cherish our times together and the conversations we did have, and I will always miss her.
I am delighted that this picture was taken of us at our last reunion five years ago. Much love to all that new and loved her.

David, I am so sorry to learn of Lorrie's passing, and so sad for you and your family and all who loved her - which was an easy thing to do for anyone who knew her. It seems like yesterday (instead of 35 years ago!) that we moved into the house on Weldon Street, next door to Lorne and Joanne, who kindly shared their garden, their time, and wonderful baking with our young family.
