Obituary of Carol Kathryn (MacKinnon) Phinney
It is with great sadness that the family of Carol Kathryn Phinney, nee MacKinnon, announces that on Monday, February 27, 2023, Carol passed away at home at age 89, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in 1933 in Sackville, New Brunswick, Carol, also known as Babe, could only be described as loving, fun, wise, and generous. Her life had been extraordinary, battling many illnesses all the while raising her family in a loving and nurturing home. Carol adored her family, especially the young children, and loved the Sunday afternoon get-togethers. She loved life, cooking, baking, and birds. There was always time for hugs and play and some of her delicious comfort food. She never wanted to miss out on anything. Carol’s lively sense of humour stayed with her until the end, and in her last days, she was still deeply concerned about her family. Carol was a role-model for everyone who knew her.
Carol will be sadly missed by her children, John (Kathy Wheaton), Allan (Barbara), Kevin (Darlene) and Jacqueline Archibald (Joey); her loving grandchildren, Matthew (Brittany), Amanda (Andrew), Mallory, Shannon (Danielle), Christian, Jacqueline (Andrew), Alexander (Meagan), Emma, Max, Adam, and Jessica, as well as by her 20 great-grandchildren.
Carol will also be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law, Edna MacKinnon and Joan Alder; her daughter-in-law, Kathleen, as well as by numerous nephews and nieces and their children. She will also be missed by her many friends in Aerobics class, coffee at McDonald’s, and her card party friends from years ago.
Carol was predeceased by her husband Jack; her parents, Roy and Jean (Craik) MacKinnon; her son, Timothy Byron; her sister, Connie; her brothers, Johnny, Muir, and Buddy; her sisters-in-law, Dot, Louise, Doris, Audrey and Kay; her brothers-in-law, Victor, Chester, Wallace, Fred, Tom, as well as by her granddaughter-in-law, Sarah Wilson.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Cumberland County Regional Health Care Centre for their wonderful care of Carol and to express their gratitude to Sackville’s extra-mural staff for the dedication and compassion.
