So sorry to hear of Doug's passing. When visiting my mother at Autumn Lee, he always had a smile and a candy to greet you as you went down the hallway. Thoughts are with the family at this time.

I remember well when the Howatt family came to Maple Street. Doug was always interested in what we kids were up to on the street. A very popular man as was his wife, Winnifred. They brought three more kids to a street with lots of kids. I recall Doug's magic shows at the Maple Street Picnic many times. I never got to fly with him but my father did. One winter when my Dad went to Cuba for McCains to help with potato equipment sold there, Doug flew Harrison and Wallace to Cuba and my father returned with them. Now that was a long flight as they had to return via Mexico City and several US stops because no flights were allowed from Cuba via the USA. A long flight in a twin engines turbo prop plane (Mooney MU2)
My condolences to Winnifred, Susan, David and Paul and all your families in your time of loss. As a family friend said many times, it comes to us all. Rest in Peace Doug and God bless.

I well remember when Doug Howatt and his family moved to Florenceville. They were such nice, smart, people, active in the community and in church and well liked by all. I think the first time I was ever in an airplane it was piloted by Doug Howatt and it was Cathy McCain and I and her late father, Andrew. The men were so tickled with our delighted reaction to be included in a little flight to Fredericton and back that I remember their kindness well. We girls were about 12 at the time.
Please accept our sincere condolences at this time. He helped raise a particularly nice family and we know he will be sorely missed.
