I have many memories of my dear friend Lesley, from working together on Continuing Meeting of Ministry and Counsel for Canadian Yearly Meeting, to travelling by car and discussing suicide, to her staying with us when meeting her granddaughter in Hamilton, to jaunting about Nova Scotia during CYM, and having dinner at her and John's beach house, and staying at their beautiful Moncton home... and many others. I will miss her groundedness, her lack of being judgemental (a lesson I need!), her humour, her coonsisteenncy, and so much more. The world is a better place for Lesley having been in it.

Dear John and family, Lesley was a gracious, smart, fun-loving, compassionate person with a wonderful sense of what work and play can be, and the ability to experience both at the same time. I came to know Lesley through our mutual friend, Arthur Motyer, and many a croquet game, delicious dinner, and Christmas Carol sing around the piano form my very fondest memories. Our friendship continued when we worked closely together for the Tantramar Seniors’ College, from its formation, throughout many years, on the Curriculum and Space Committee which she chaired. Our meetings were productive and always fun, held around her dining room table, always completed with her delicious home-baked goodies. Her sense of humour and marvellous brain-power went a long way to help the College thrive in those growing years. You, John, and Lesley were a super couple and part of the very fabric of Sackville life! She will be missed by so many, including me.

Dear John and family. I have been thinking of Lesley and all of you since her passing, trying to find the right words. Nothing can encompass the loss you must all feel and the loss to so many Lesley touched over the years. The many tributes attest to how well she was loved, how she impacted so many. I first really got to know Lesley at the Once in a While Club where she brought so many interesting ideas and always came with her sense of humour and that special warmth and kindness that made everyone feel special. A dear friend to all. Warmest wishes , Kathleen McMullen

I was so sorry to hear that Lesley had died. When we met at the Once in a While Club we always seemed to seek each other out for a chat, a laugh and a catch up. Lesley was the first person I met when I came to Sackville in 1970. She arrived at the door the day after we arrived with a box of homemade cookies. That was so typical of Lesley - thoughtful, generous and kind. My heartfelt sympathy to John and their girls. Lesley will be greatly missed.

I got to know Lesley when we both served on Continuing Committee of Ministry and Counsel for Canadian Yearly Meeting of Quakers for 6 years. She brought many gifts of active listening, kindness, patience and good humour to our work during a difficult period for the Yearly Meeting. I remember taking me to a thrift shop that she knew of during some free time where we both shared our love of the hunt for new to us treasures. She will be missed and fondly remembered.

I met Lesley in September, 1962 when I started at Birmingham University. She had already met John, so a meeting was arranged. For some strange reason, it didn't go well! That got sorted quickly and we have laughed about that memory ever since. John and Lesley have been my oldest and dearest friends for over sixty years and I shall badly miss our discussions, doing the crossword over morning coffee and being able to rely on her for advice on so many matters.
