Obituary of Alfred Joseph Barry

It is with great sadness, that the family of Alfred Barry, age 78, announces his passing on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital with his loving wife by his side.

Born on January 23, 1944 in North Sydney, N.S., he was the son of the late Jeanette Barry.

Alf enjoyed watching hockey and was a true fan of the Montreal Canadiens. He was a stay-at-home type of man and was the kindest, most gentle man who was always there if you needed him for something. Alf and his wife Ruth enjoyed their regular shopping trips together downtown, with Alf patiently waiting until Ruth was ready to go home. He will be greatly missed.

Alf will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years, Ruth Joanne (Melanson) Barry; his sister, Diane Bradbury (Mike Bonnell) of North Sydney, N.S.; his sister-in-law, Patricia Clare (Vernon Willis) of Charlottetown, PEI; his nephew, Kevin Willis; his nieces, Heather Willis, Mary Doucette, Judy Scott, Irene LeMaire and Rosanne, as well as by his great nephews, Reace and Colton Willis.

Alf was pre-deceased by his mother, Jeanette Barry; his sister, Mary; his aunt, Margaret, as well as by his uncle, Ron.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. E4L 3P1 (364-8188). In keeping with Alf’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visiting hours will take place at the funeral home on Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 2-4 pm.  A short service will take place at 3 pm with Rev. Lloyd Bruce officiating. The burial will take place in the Amherst Cemetery following the visitation.
