My sympathies to Art's family. I met Art when I worked at Jacob's Larder and he kept us entertained. He used to have the night shift baking bread before doing his papers. I would go in after him to slice and package the bread. After he finished his deliveries, he wold stop by the bakery again to take a break before his repair jobs. He'd pull up a stool in the corner of the bakery and we always found something to chat about. If I was lucky, I could get him to start singing an old drinking song. It was a pleasure knowing him. I'll miss running into him around town.

Sorry for the loss of Artie....when we were teenagers we knew him as Artie. Our family moved from Port Elgin to Maple Ave. off York St. in Sackville and Artie lived in one of the four houses on the corner built the same. I remember him being well liked and he was in a car accident with my two brothers Jack & Kenny Nicholson at Silver Lake. Gord Nicholson & Jack Nicholson

Linda and the family, So sorry for your loss. Art was such a great man who was loved and respected by so many. Have known and liked Art from the time we were young. He was my go to guy if I had an appliance that needed repair and most recently a dedicated paperboy. Meeting him on the street we always had a little chat and a laugh or two. Rest in peace Art and to the family, you lost a wonderful person.

Our Dear Daddy/ Step-Dad was one of the most amazing people anyone would ever want to know. He was loved and cherished by so many. I am so proud and happy to have had him as my Daddy. Over the years we have discussed and reminisced about our lives. Not my only amazing memory of him, but certainly one of my favourites. It was when I was about 3. We lived way in Fairfield at the top of a hill. Dad love to take me tobogganing. He would tie a rope onto the toboggan, push me down the hill, and then pull me back up. This particular time when he pushed me down the hill the rope broke. I went down the hill, into the ditch, up onto the road, across it and down into the other ditch. I was scared. I remember looking up to my left. There stood my scared Daddy, tears streaming down his face. His arms stretch out to pick me up. He just couldn’t stop telling me how sorry he was and how much he loved me. I will cherish that memory for ever.
Although we struggled through the years, that memory brought us back together. I realized how much he truly loved me and how much I truly loved him. As well, his acknowledgment of any part he played in any sadness I may have experienced meant, to me, all I ever needed from him was his love.
I am certain that all of you have wonderful memories of him. I would love to hear them. Our Daddy was so very loved and respected by so many. Please, everyone feel free to share those experiences with us.
Thank you to Everyone who shared even a little piece of my Daddy’s life. He will be missed leaving a crater in our hearts.
