I knew Miranda as a wonderful caregiver. My Dad was a resident of the Drew Nursing Home from May 2016- April 2018, and he could be very cranky. Miranda always treated him kindly and was able to cheer Dad up each time she came on duty. She always seemed so upbeat and I remember thinking what fun she must be to work with. Our family all appreciated her caring soul and my mother was always so pleased to see Miranda; they always shared a laugh.
Our heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones and coworkers as you go through this difficult time.

To the Family
Today as I reflect on the life of my dear friend Miranda! All I can do is smile. Miranda came into my life at such a pivotal time. I was broken, and my life didn’t have much meaning. How can one person give such meaning to one’s life? I’m not sure but she did. Miranda’s humor, and laughter could do that all by itself, but she took it one step further she introduced me to Her family, and you all quickly became friend and family too!
I am indeed saddened by the sudden passing of Miranda, But know that she was a precious gift to so many.
May the Joy that radiated from Miranda life always be in your memories.
I hope you find a treasured moment that makes you smile as I have like spending Canada day in Isaac’s Habour eating mussels for the first time. Or Hanging over Nickie’s house doing fireworks, the road trips; I have tons of memories!!
So Today I say hang on to the memories they last a lifetime!

It was with heartfelt sadness that I learned of Miranda's sudden passing. The staff and management of the Drew were in shocked disbelief this past week. The grief and sadness was profound and evident in the faces and quiet demeanor of staff and residents throighout the home. Miranda will be missed. She was a huge presence in the workplace with her humor and fun filled personality. She was kind, caring and compassionate and this was reflected in her love of the residents and her consideration and empathy for her coworkers. I am so very sorry to hear of Miranda's passing. Miranda was someone who will never be forgotten with her golden heart, her humor, her love of everyone she met, she will shine on in the ones who loved her most. We often wonder why God would take someone so beautiful, so young and so loving, but there is a reason, even if we do not know the reason now it will all become known to us as time goes on. Melissa you were loved dearly by this beautiful person Miranda and she let everyone know how much you meant to her. She will always be a part of you as you two were shining examples of what love is. I know I was one of the lucky ones who had the chance to know Miranda and I loved her dearly. She was awesome, caring , and what stands out for me is her love for seniors. She treated them so special like each one was part of her family, which to Miranda's beautiful heart, they were. Melissa, Miranda would want you to be strong and not think of her as gone but to think of what she had accomplished in her short life and all the beautiful memories you two shared. To Alma you had a beautiful daughter and I can tell you she loved you with all her heart and she was proud of her mom. To Larry and Liz, Jason and Anne-Marie your life is better just knowing Miranda and having her a part of your family.
Miranda is your angel now Melissa, sitting on your shoulder, take comfort in knowing she will always be there with you.

There are no words to express the loss of such a dynamic, fun and kind woman as Miranda. When I walked onto the units at the Drew she always greeted me with her smile, and something funny that she observed about me. It was hard not to laugh at her antics. We had many serious talks about residents and the love she had for them. She only wanted the best for every resident, and we talked about what this meant.
I knew she was fearful of her upcoming heart surgery, and we talked about this too, We exchanged many hugs and words of reassurance to ease her way. I told her I would come and visit her and I did. She was sitting up in her chair in the ICU, a power house of a woman looking a wee bit frail and vulnerable, Her dear mother sat on the bed next to her not leaving her for a minute. That is what mother's do. I kissed her gently and told her " Wow, you did it! " I did not stay long as I knew she needed her rest, but I was so glad just to be there even for a few minutes. She was so brave for such a scaredy cat, and so welcoming when she probably just wanted to go to bed. I will always cherish those few minutes.
I will remember you with a smile on my face Melissa. You would like that. I will cherish your booming personality and love of life,of family, your kitty and the dear residents you served/
