Obituary of Joan Murray

Baie Verte, NB – It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Clarissa Joan Murray on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at Westford Nursing Home, Port Elgin, NB.

 

Born in Baie Verte, NB, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred (Fred) and Flora (Merser) Fillmore.

 

Following high school graduation from Port Elgin, NB, Joan went into nurses training with her twin sister Joy, and after receiving their RNs they worked together as nurses in Sackville Memorial Hospital.

 

After marrying her husband, Ian, they moved to Halifax where she worked in the Halifax Infirmary for several years.

Upon retirement they moved back to Baie Verte.

 

Joan will be sadly missed by her son Chris (Carla) of Baie Verte, two grandchildren Anna-Christine Murray and Matthew Boles, two brothers Stanley (Lois) and George Fillmore of Baie Verte, three sisters Flora (Doug) Annand of Baie Verte, Lois Metro of Boston, Mass., and Hedy (Walter) Puiia of Freeport, Maine, God daughter Lorraine Power, St. John’s, NL, and many nieces and nephews.

 

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Ian, daughter Kathleen, brothers Baxter, Fred Jr. and Peter Fillmore, and sisters Betty, Martha and twin sister Joy.

 

There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time.

 

Memorial donations in Joan’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
