Obituary of Baxter Trueman Hicks

It is with deep sadness that the family of Baxter Trueman Hicks must announce his passing on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Villa Providence in Shediac, N.B., following a lengthy battle with early onset Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Born on April 8, 1946 in Midgic, N.B. he was the son of the late Medley and Leota (Wheaton) Hicks.

Baxter was a member of the Middle Sackville Baptist Church and when health permitted he enjoyed volunteering with the Sackville Christian Academy.  His family was a priority in his life and he enjoyed his gardens, a good card game, music and he loved to watch (and arm chair coach) the Toronto Maple Leaf’s and Blue Jays.

Baxter will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Patricia (Kilcup) Hicks of Riverview, N.B.; his daughter, Gayle of Riverview, N.B.; his son, Gord (Danielle) of London, Ontario and his treasured granddaughter, Isabelle of Ontario.  Baxter is also survived by his sisters, Donna Sears and Kay (Victor) Wells; his brother, Claude (Margie), as well as by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Baxter was pre-deceased by his brothers, Austin, Harold, Carl and Len.

The family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to the Villa Providence for their excellent care.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-8188. Visiting hours will take place at the funeral home on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 4 to 7 pm. The funeral service will take place at Campbell’s Funeral Home on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11 am with Rev. Mark Reece officiating. The burial will take place in the Four Corners Cemetery.
