Obituary of Florence Ruth (Davis) Cook
It is with sadness, but peace of heart that we announce the passing of Florence (Girlie) Cook on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer. Florence passed away at the age of 86 with her loving daughter and niece by her side.
Born on March 27, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Lena Bowser and Emmerson Davis.
Florence and her twin brother were the first set of twins to be born in the old Amherst Hospital, something in which she took great pride. She was a member of the IODE Lord Sackville Chapter, the Sackville United Church and she was very involved with the UCW.
Florence will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Margaret Cook; her nieces, Jane (Doug), Carolyn (Tommy) and Lynn (Mark); several aunts and uncles; her special uncle, Hugh (Brenda) Bowser, as well as by Fred and Jeannette Davis.
Besides her parents, Florence was pre-deceased by her husband, Harold "Hank" Cook in 1999, as well as by her twin brother, George "Sonny" Davis.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-8188. Visiting hours will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 pm, followed by the funeral service at 2 pm, with Rev. Lloyd Bruce officiating.
