It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorette Briggs on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville. Dorette was 83 years of age.
Born in Upper Sackville, N.B. on September 9, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Edmae (Babineau) and Acquila Girouard.
Dorette was a housewife all of her life, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She and Raymond were married for 57 years and she was always kind, loving and patient and they never had an argument in all of those years. In earlier years, she worked at Matilda’s Canteen in Middle Sackville and she enjoyed talking on her CB radio to folks all over the world, going by the handle, “Foxy Lady”. She was an avid bingo player, loved playing cards with her grandchildren, was a wonderful knitter and enjoyed going camping all over the Maritimes, even taking some bus trips to Florida and Tennessee.
Dorette will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Raymond Briggs; her daughter, Joan (Lynnwood) Young of Stilesville, N.B.; her son-in-law, Kevin Read of Sackville, N.B.; her brothers, Alfred (Sue) Girouard of Leominister, Mass. and Laurie (Louise) Girouard of Leominister, Mass.; her grandchildren, Stacey Lynn (Peter) Whittleton and Jonathan Raymond (Kaylee) Read; her great-granddaughter, Scarlett Mae Whittleton; her great-grandson, Cedric Raymond Read, as well as by several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides her parents, Dorette was pre-deceased by her daughter, Nancy Read; her brother, Ivan Girouard, as well as by her sister-in-law, Wanda Girouard.
