Obituary of George Frederick Coombs

Sackville, N.B.- George Frederick Coombs, 61, of Sackville passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016, surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness. Born on June 3, 1955 in Sackville, N.B., he was the son of the late James Aubrey and Annie Ida (Wilson) Coombs. George worked for many years in the blueberry farming industry. Prior to that he was a Correctional Officer at the Dorchester Provincial Jail for sixteen years. He was a member of the Sackville Rod & Gun Club and enjoyed spending time in nature- hunting, fishing, gardening, beekeeping and producing maple syrup at the camp. One of his greatest passions was enjoying and playing bluegrass music, all of which were shared with good friends and many laughs but what he cherished most was time spent with his family. George will be deeply missed by his soulmate and wife of forty years, Harriett (Crosthwaite) Coombs; son, Ryan Coombs (Chantal Senecal) of Sackville; daughter, Eryn (Christopher) Coombs-MacIsaac of Halifax, N.S.; two brothers, Lewis (Margaret) Coombs of Sackville and Marc Coombs (Barb Estabrooks) of Baie Verte, N.B.; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law; special step-grandchildren, Isabelle and Austin as well as by many good friends and people who knew him as “dad”. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his two sisters, Geraldine Estabrooks and Patricia Richard; two brothers, James Coombs and Wilson Coombs as well as by his brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with George’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visiting hours will take place at Campbell’s Funeral Home on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Main Street Baptist Church, 20 Main Street, Sackville, on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 2 pm with Pastor Danny Barrett officiating.
