Obituary of Edith Doreen Kay

Dorchester, N.B.- It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of E. Doreen Kay at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville, N.B. on Sunday, July 10, 2016. Doreen was 87 years of age. Born in Sackville on March 23, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lola (Babcock) Ward. Doreen was a homemaker, avid seamstress and knitter and you rarely saw her without a pair of mittens on the go. She was especially proud of the fact that she sent 50 pairs of mittens to the Ukraine one fall. Doreen was also a member of the Tantramar Twirlers dance club. Doreen will be lovingly remembered by her children, Susan Geldart (Stewart) of Riverview, N.B., Bruce of Dorchester, N.B. and Cathy of Sackville, N.B.; her granddaughters, Lori Crousse (Robert) of Riverview, N.B. and Tina Westrup (Jon) of Riverview, N.B.; her great-grandchildren, Lola and Siri Crouse and Caius and Caden Westrup. Doreen is also survived by one sister, Ellen Wombolt (Rob) of Kingston, Ontario and by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Jim in 2011; her grandson, Scott; her great-grandson, William; her brothers, Gerald (Bud), Larry and David and by her sister, Marcia Lees. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visiting hours will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place at Campbell’s Funeral Home on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 2 pm. The burial will take place in the Dorchester Rural Cemetery.
