Obituary of Ernest C.D. Alder
Port Elgin, N.B.- It is with great sadness that the family of Ernest Alder announces his passing on June 14, 2016 at the Westford Nursing Home in Port Elgin. Ernie passed away peacefully at the age of 81 years.
Born in Midgic, N.B. on August 17, 1934, he was the son of the late Jessie (Cadman) and Sidney Alder.
Ernie was a truck driver for many years, worked in the woods, was a mechanic and enjoyed working on cars. He loved telling stories, making jokes, watching his hummingbirds in the summer and most of all, he enjoyed his visits with his grandchildren.
Ernie will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Audrey (Polley); eight sons, David (Margaret), Dale (Kathy), Danny, Darren, Dwight, Darrel (Paulette), Douglas and Donald; three daughters, Darlene (Arthur), Darla (Kevin) and Deanna (Lance); two brothers, Olan and Austin (“T-Boy”); one sister, Debbie; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ernie was pre-deceased by two sisters, Hilda and Violet; two brothers, Arnold and Charles and by two grandsons, one in infancy, as well as 16 year old Chad Alder.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Ernie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11 am at the Fernwood Cemetery in Port Elgin, N.B. with William Drysdale, DLM officiating.
Donations in memory of Ernie may be made to the Westford Nursing Home or to the charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to thank Westford Nursing Home and Dr. Stewart for their care and support of Ernie. He enjoyed his time there and joking with the staff.
