Obituary of Geneva Cavell Crossman
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Geneva Cavell Crossman on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Drew Nursing Home.
Born in Midgic, N.B. on March 26, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Merley and Ethel (Phinney) Wheaton.
Geneva was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a homemaker and in later years worked at Mount Allison University and the Drew Nursing Home. Geneva loved music and loved to dance.
Geneva will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Eunice Laing of Sambro, N.S., Margaret Crossman of Pitt Meadows, B.C. and Colleen Crossman of Moncton, N.B.; her three sons, Roland (Barbara) of Sackville, N.B., Vern (Brenda) of Portugese Cove, N.S. and Gordon (Delia) of Moncton, N.B.; her two brothers, Clarence (Betty) Wheaton and Floyd (Diane) Wheaton both of Midgic, N.B.; her sister, Cassie (Ernest) Harper of Sackville, N.B.; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her daughters-in-law, Audrey Crossman of Westcock, N.B. and Nancy Crossman of Moncton, N.B.; her sisters-in-law, Gertrude Wheaton of Midgic, N.B. and Madelyn Wheaton of Sackville, N.B.; her brother-in-law, Winston Hicks of Sackville, N.B. and by her many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Beverly Fuller Crossman; her three sons, Meryl, Charles and Jerry; her four brothers, Douglas, Herman, Cecil and Retias; her four sisters, Donalda, Margaret, Neta and Erma; her grandson, Logan Crossman and by her son-in-law, Kenny Laing.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell's Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville (506) 364-8188. Visiting hours will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held at Campbell's Funeral Home on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Timothy MacDonald officiating. A reception will follow the service and the burial will take place in the spring in the Sackville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Geneva may be made to the Drew Nursing Home or to the charity of one's choice.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and doctors at the Drew Nursing Home for their wonderful care and compassion over the past few years.
