I was not a close friend of Willy. But my father (Cyril Wheaton) was, as well as my uncle Delanor Wheaton. Willy was born and raised in Midgic, New Brunswick. He was a very good musician and singer. He performed many times in the local Legion. He will be sadly missed.

Dear Irene, Susan, David, Tim, Jeff, Michael and families,
We are so very sorry for your profound loss. While no one wanted Wilf to suffer, saying goodbye must be so very hard, most especially when your family is as close-knit as yours.
Despite such sadness and our condolences, we are happy for you to have had so many good years together as a family, which Wilf would want everyone to concentrate on as much as possible. Whether at home, at the camp, or the cottage, family and togetherness was the glue of every day.
We are also grateful for the opportunity to have had such a fine man be a part of our own lives and thank you for sharing him with us. Wilfred's passing will leave a void in the lives of so many, including those of our family. Wilf was a fine man who left behind lessons for us all, just one of which was the fact that he was cherished at home, by his friends, and within his community for being loving, kind, and full of fun.

Hi folks, sorry to learn of Wilfred's passing. I don't know if you would remember me, my mom is Alta Crawford, my aunt is Esther Ward. As a kid we would visit Steve and Aleda Ward ( grandparents) who lived in Sackville across the street from Curtis and Bessie Hicks. I remember meeting Wilfred at the store and visiting you folks at your home and your cottage near Tormentine. Good memories for me and my sister Susan.

Dear Folks:
We were so very sorry to hear that Wilfred has passed. He was such a dear, lovely person. I always felt that I was in the presence of someone who could have gone all the way to the top with his music. I love the reference to the Merle Haggard song and I believe Wilfred could have been as big as Merle.

I was saddened by your loss, but couldn't help but think back of many chuckles
coming from Willie's direction and enjoyed all the gigs from years ago when we

I want to share the story of how my name got changed to Lynn. When I would go into Johnstone's in search of a good piece of beef or pork. I always said, Hi Wif," and he would reply,"Hi Lynn." The first few times this happened I always said, "Marilyn" to which Wilf would reply, "Ummm, ya right," and I continued on my way. I tired correcting him, until I finally gave up and over the years I got use to answering to Lynn. And of course Wilf shared his knowledge of my name with Ronnie. I will miss not hearing it again.
Blair and I enjoyed many musical gathering and they will not be the same without Wilf.
May God give you all the comfort and strength to face the tough days ahead.

Dear Irene and family. We are so very sorry for your loss. Wilfred was a wonderful person and we always enjoyed the times we spent with him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the entire community, He was a great guitar player and great card player. We had many laughs with Wilfred in the past and I am sure we will shed some tears and more laughs down the road as we remember the good times we all had with him. Our thoughts are with you all.
