Obituary of Douglas Campbell & Marguerite Campbell

Sackville, N.B.- It is with deep sadness that the family of Douglas and Marguerite Campbell announce their passing on Monday, December 23, 2013. Douglas was 81 years of age. Marguerite was 62 years of age. They went home to be with their Lord following a tragic car accident due to weather conditions. They had been returning home for Christmas from a vacation in Florida. Born on January 22, 1932 in Waltham, Mass., Douglas was the son of the late Esther and Oscar Campbell. Born on February 27, 1951 in Petitcodiac, N.B., Marguerite was the daughter of the late Marjorie (Wilson) and Harold Fletcher. Douglas was a Baptist minister who pastored at many churches throughout the Maritimes. Before studying to become a minister he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a hard worker who enjoyed carpentry, reading and conversing with others. He will be greatly missed. Marguerite was a schoolteacher at Dorchester Consolidated School. She was an active member of Woodpoint Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, worked with Vacation Bible School programs and was part of the women’s group. Spending time with children, especially her grandchildren, gave her much joy. She will be deeply missed. Douglas and Marguerite will be lovingly remembered by their son, Stephen (Olga) Campbell; their daughters Lorna (Tom) Boudreau, Joanne Campbell, Jenny Pawlik, Donna (Jeremy) Olfert, and Heather (Steven) Thompson and their 11 grandchildren. Douglas is survived by his sisters Doreen Farrell and Shelia (Donnie) Davies. Marguerite is survived by her brothers, Arthur (Louise) Fletcher and Cecil (Diane) Fletcher. Besides his parents, Douglas was pre-deceased by his brother, Donald Campbell and wife, Shirley (Hawkes) Campbell. Marguerite was pre-deceased by her parents and her brother, John Fletcher. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visiting hours will take place on Thursday, January 2nd from 2-4pm and from 7-9pm at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at Main Street Baptist Church in Sackville on Friday, January 3rd at 10am with Pastor Danny Jack officiating, assisted by Pastor Andrew Savill. A reception will be at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marguerite and Douglas Campbell scholarship fund at Crandall University.
