Obituary of Margaret Goodwin Holmes

Baie Verte, N.B.- It is with sadness, but peace of heart that the family of Margaret Rose Goodwin Holmes, announce her passing on Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Moncton Hospital, with her loving family by her side. Margaret was 73 years of age. Born on October 9, 1940 in Plaster Rock, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Shirley (Harding) Haley. Margaret held many different retail positions during her life and was a proprietor of Goodwin Variety Store in Baie Verte, N.B. She was a member of St. Luke’s ACW and a member of the President’s Club of Avon. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Arthur Holmes of Baie Verte, N.B.; sons, Jerry (Debbie) Goodwin and Eddie (Marjorie) Goodwin of Baie Verte, N.B.; daughters, Donna (Regis) Chabot of Baie Verte, N.B., Kathy (Ben) Clamon of Arizona, USA and Roxanne Legere (Dean Acton) of Sackville, N.B.; 3 brothers, Charles Jr. (Myrna) Haley of Baie Verte, N.B., John (Linda) Haley and Floyd (Sharon) Haley, both of Oshawa, Ontario; 5 sisters, Shirley (Ken) Callaghan, Oshawa, Arlene (Brian) Lines of Baie Verte, Deborah (Michael) Jones, Sackville and Linda (Robert) Trenholm of Port Elgin; sisters-in-law, Barbara Haley of Sackville and Doreen Haley of Trenton, Ontario; son-in-law, Roger Legere of Amherst, N.S.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins as well as by her step-children, Debbie (Pat) Hansen of BC, Arthur Jr. Holmes of Ontario, Harry Christopher Holmes of Ontario, Colleen (Joe) Vandaele of Ontario, Colin (Shiann) Holmes of Miramichi, N.B.; step-grandchildren; step great-grandchildren and by her good friends, Robert and Julia Lockwood of Mount Whatley, N.B. Besides her parents, Margaret was pre-deceased by her first husband, Lovell Goodwin and by her brothers, Harold, Wilfred, Edward, Robert, Roger, Frank and by an infant brother. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visiting hours will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place at St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Baie Verte on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 1 pm with Rev. Rufus Onyewuchi officiating. A reception will follow the service. Burial will take place in the Baie Verte Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margaret may be made to the St. Luke’s ACW, St. Mark’s ACW, NB Lung Association or to the charity of one’s choice.
