Obituary of Elizabeth Jean Faulkner
Sackville, N.B.- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Faulkner, of Sackville, N.B. on January 17, 2007, at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Born in Economy, N.S. on September 27, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Peacock) Gilbert.
Betty grew up in Northport, N.S. and graduated from the Halifax Infirmary with a degree in nursing in 1952. She worked as a devoted and well-respected nurse for many years at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1991. Her smile and positive outlook warmed the hearts of all her patients. Betty enjoyed painting, traveling, gardening and spending time at the cottage at Walton’s Beach. Her greatest passion was spending time with her six grandchildren.
Betty will be sadly missed and is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Gordon Faulkner of Sackville; her daughter Mary Jo (David) Marsden of St. John’s, Nfld; her sons, Jim (Nicole) Faulkner of Miramichi, N.B. and Lee (Andrea) Faulkner of Fredericton, N.B.; her brother Melvin Gilbert of Thunder Bay, Ontario; sister-in-law Laura Gilbert of Ajax, Ontario and sister-in-law Vera Faulkner of Amherst, N.S.; her grandchildren, Nicholas and Sarah Marsden, Ryan and Morgan Faulkner, Laura and Eric Faulkner and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Everett; sister-in-law Jan Gilbert and her brother-in-law Ron Faulkner.
Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request of the family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Campbell’s Funeral Home. A reception will be held at the funeral home following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or to the charity of ones choice.
