Obituary of Muriel Idella Steadman
Sackville, N.B.- It is with great sadness that the family of Muriel Steadman announce her passing, with her children by her side, at the Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Muriel was 89 years of age.
Born in Sussex, N.B. on September 21, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Minnie Amelia (Veysey) and Harvey Ora Bell.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Some of Muriel’s favorite pastimes were knitting, sewing, reading and gardening.
Muriel will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Peggy (John) Hazlehurst of Truro, N.S., Patricia (Charles) Leger of Shediac River, N.B., Katie (Victor) Sparks of Walton’s Beach, N.B., Roberta (John) Novak of Sackville, N.B. and her son, Robert Steadman of Sackville, N.B.; brothers, Lloyd and Elmer (Wilma) Bell of Sussex, N.B.; grandchildren, Mark Hazlehurst (Catherine Pyke), Katherine Hazlehurst, Nicole Leger (Kevin Williams), Scott (Paula) Leger, Stacey Sparks (Montell Gosmon), Jordan Sparks, Christopher Novak and Joshua Novak (Jessica Brooks); great-grandchildren, Brianna, Chelsea, Robert and Cameryn and by many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Muriel was pre-deceased by her husband Robert Bruce Steadman in 1979; brothers, Curtis and Ray Bell and by her sisters, Jean Bell and Dorothy Flesh.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Muriel’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Muriel may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of ones choice.
The family wishes to thank the Shediac Paramedics, as well as Dr. Mitton and the nursing staff at the 4600 unit of the Moncton Hospital, for the excellent care and support during this difficult time. Your kindness will always be remembered.
