Obituary of Bonita Alice Leifker
Amherst, N.S.- It is with deep sadness that the family of Bonnie (Carter) Leifker, announce her passing on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, with her loving family by her side. Bonnie was 53 years of age.
Born on February 14, 1961 in Amherst, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Murray and Mona (Farrow) Carter.
Bonnie loved bowling, knitting, sewing, crocheting and baking. She was the Secretary for her bowling league as well as a member of the Sunshine Sister Group at San Gabriel Baptist Church while she lived in Texas. Bonnie loved to travel and see new places whenever she could and especially loved spending time with her daughter Aeron and her husband Jamie. Christmas was her favorite time of year and she looked forward to the holidays with her family and friends. She was a caring, loving and thoughtful person who always wanted people to enjoy life, always making sure that others were looked after before herself, even strangers. Bonnie was able to make friends with anyone, no matter who it was, their age or their background. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Bonnie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 13 years, Gerald Leifker; her daughter, Aeron (James) McMaster; her sister, Donna Paul; her brother-in-law, Charles Jr. Haley and by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Bonnie was pre-deceased by her brother, Gordon Carter; her sister, Myrna Haley and by a brother in infancy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church Street, Amherst, N.S. Visiting hours will take place at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. on Monday, February 2, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place at Campbell’s Funeral Home, Sackville, on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. Catherine Smith officiating. The burial will take place in the spring in the Point de Bute Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bonnie may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Cancer Society, Cumberland Regional Health Care Center or to the charity of one’s choice.
