Obituary of Charles James Haley
Baie Verte, N.B.- With sadness and heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Charles Haley Jr. on April 5th, 2015.
Born January 15th, 1943 in Newcastle Ridge NB., he was the son of the late Charles & Shirley (Harding) Haley.
Junior was a heavy equipment operator in Oshawa, ON before returning to Baie Verte. He was employed with the Department of Transportation as a snow plow operator for 31 years. He was a former volunteer with the Port Elgin Ambulance and a member of the Tidnish United Church. Sport hunting was his passion and he also enjoyed fishing with Myrna. Junior was a very strong willed, caring person and these qualities were never more evident than during his wife Myrna’s illness. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother & uncle. He took great pride in his grandchildren’s accomplishments.
Junior will be lovingly remembered by his children, Murray (Christa) Haley, Point de Bute, N.B., Douglas (Shelly) Haley, Sackville, N.B. and by Kimberly (Bob) Simpson, Fort Lawrence, N.S.; his grandchildren, Jordan (Krystal Buck), Zachary, Lindsay, John and Marissa; his brothers, John (Linda) Haley, Oshawa ON and Floyd (Sharon) Haley, Oshawa ON; his sisters, Shirley (Ken) Callaghan, Oshawa ON, Arlene (Brian) Lines, Baie Verte, N.B., Deborah (Michael) Jones, Sackville, N.B. and Linda (Robert) Trenholm, Port Elgin; his sister-in-laws, Barbara Haley, Sackville, N.B., Doreen Haley, Trenton ON and by his brother-in-law, Arthur Holmes, Baie Verte, N.B.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Myrna (Carter) Haley in July of 2014; his sister, Margaret Goodwin Holmes; his brothers, Robert, Harold, Wilfred, Edward, Roger and Frank and by a brother in infancy.
The family would like to thank Dr. Catherine Johnston for her care and compassion during this difficult time.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-8188. Visiting hours will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 8th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, April 9th at 3 PM with Rev. Catherine Smith officiating. Internment will take place in the Point de Bute Cemetery at a later date.
