Obituary of James A.M. Mullins

James (Jim) Mullins, Beloved Father and Cherished Grandfather,

Passes Away at 84

 

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jim Mullins, a devoted husband, father, and adored grandfather (Poppy), who left this world on April 11, 2024. Jim passed away peacefully at the Sackville Memorial Hospital after a brief battle with dementia.

 

Born on November 21, 1939, Jim lived a life filled with love, kindness and unwavering dedication to his family. He was a beacon of strength and wisdom, whose presence brought joy to all who knew him. His legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

 

Jim will be known as a man of integrity and honor, who cherished his role as a father and grandfather above all else. His love for his children was boundless and he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to their happiness and well-being. Later in life, Jim took great pride and joy in watching his grandchildren grow. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and milestones.

 

Outside of his family, Jim was known for his warm smile, gentle demeanor, and lengthy stories, many of which were about Newfoundland, his forever homeland. He touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity, leaving a lasting impression wherever he went. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

 

Though Jim may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will live on in the hearts of his loved ones forever.

 

Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sheila Mullins (nee Inder); his daughters, Jackie (Peter) Andrews of Lloyd Minster, Alberta and Pam (Kirby) Cadman of Sackville, NB; his grandchildren, Bradley (Allyn) Andrews, Kyle, Kimberly and Connor Cadman; his great-grandchildren, Emily and Maddi Andrews; his sister, Elsie Hall; his sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Carl Bennet, as well as by his sister-in-law, Fran Inder. May his soul rest in eternal peace, knowing that he was deeply loved and he will be dearly missed.

 

Other than his parents, Abner and Rebecca Mullins, Jim was predeceased by his son-in-law, Peter Andrews; his brother, Ray Mullins (Beatrice); his sisters, Dora (Sid) Lake, Jane (Fred) Guest, and Julie Mullins, as well as by his brothers-in-law, Jerry Hall and Harry Inder. 

 

The family would like to send a sincere thank-you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Sackville Memorial Hospital and a special thank you to Dr. Harold Popma for befriending Jim during his last days with us.  

 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. 

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sackville Memorial Hospital in Jim's name.

 

Forever in our hearts, Jim will be remembered as a devoted father, cherished grandfather, and a true inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory be a blessing to us all.
