James Terrio

Obituary of James Barron Terrio

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Barron Terrio on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the age of 86. James passed away at the Moncton Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 12, 1936 in Minudie, NS, he was the son of the late James Harold Terrio and Grace Katherine (Baker).

James was a local entrepreneur, an avid woodworker and horse enthusiast. He enjoyed sports and he was always involved in his children’s extracurricular activities, no matter what the occasion. James loved to travel and was a great storyteller, some based on truth and some based on fiction. He always looked forward to his granddaughters, Samantha and Jade, playing their music. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

James will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Sherma (Fife) Terrio; his sons, James Terrio, Kevin Terrio and Scott Terrio; his brothers, Richard (Linda) Terrio and Ralph Terrio; his grandchildren, Paige Terrio, Nicholas Terrio, Jade Terrio, Samantha Terrio and DJ Terrio; his great-grandchildren, Sienna, Addy, Haiden and Sawyer, as well as by several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his brother, Daniel Terrio, as well as by his sister, Anna Hookey.

James's family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Autumn Lee in Sackville, as well as to the staff at the Sackville Memorial Hospital for their care and kindness.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with James’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. A private graveside service will take place in Minudie, NS at a later date.

If so desired, donations in memory of James may be made to the St. Denis Church Restoration Committee, Canadian Diabetes Association or to the charity of one’s choice.
