Obituary of James Gordon Harris

Westcock, N.B.- It is with sadness that the family of James G. Harris, announce his passing, at his home, on Friday, July 1, 2011. Born in Knutsford, PEI on September 3, 1929, he was the son of the late Lewis and Iva May (Adams) Harris. James was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Corinthians Lodge. He was passionate about harness racing and playing cards and also enjoyed taking in a good hockey game on television or at the rink. James loved spending time with his family and friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. James is survived by his wife of eight years, Alberta (Tower) Harris of Westcock, N.B.; four sons, Robert (Dianne) of Charlottetown, PEI, Ron (JoAnn) of Halifax, N.S., Randy (Carol) of Summerside, PEI and Richard (Tracey) of Calgary, AB; step-daughter, Norma (Chris) Novak of Sackville, N.B.; brother, Winburn (Isabel) of Knutsford, PEI; three sisters, Audrey Leard and Norma (Percy) Sentner both of O’Leary, PEI and Barb Harris of Charlottetown, PEI; brother-in-law, Chester Tower of Westcock, N.B.; eleven grandchildren, Jill, Tim, Chad, Brett, Jamie, Matthew, Devon, Katie, Mike, Brandon and Nadia; two great-grandchildren, Ruby June and Saul; two step-grandchildren, Samantha Hall and Stirling Hall; many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Joyce (MacIsaac); infant daughter, Iva Floy; his parents Lewis and Iva (Adams) Harris; in-laws, Banford and Mabel (Read) Tower and Alvin and Floy MacIsaac; brothers-in-law, Vincent Tower, Elmer Smith, Gary MacDonald and Harry Leard. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with James’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the Sackville United Church on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service at 2 pm with Chaplain Allan Sears officiating. On Thursday, July 7th, 2011, visitation will take place from 2-4 pm at Ferguson’s Funeral Home in O’Leary, PEI. A memorial service will take place at 4 pm, following the visitation with Pastor Chris Price officiating. Internment will take place at Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery, following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James may be made to the Rockport Cemetery, Rockport United Church or to the charity of ones choice.
