Obituary of Phyllis Marie Carter
Moncton, N.B.- Following a lengthy illness, Phyllis Marie Carter passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 with her daughter Sandra and her grandson Kent at her side. Phyllis was 92 years of age.
Born in Halifax, N.S. on February 12, 1919, she was the adopted daughter of the late Brenton and Carrie (Rayworth) Read.
Phyllis was very active in her community, volunteering for many years with the food bank and other organizations. She loved gardening, singing and most of all loved spending time with her family and friends.
Phyllis will be sadly missed by her loving daughter, Sandra Carter of Moncton, N.B.; six grandchildren, Larry, Shelley, Angela, Audrey and Sherry all of Ontario and Kent of Riverview, N.B. and by her seven great-grandchildren, Nerissa, Stephanie, Brady, Michelle, Seth, Aaron and Parker.
Besides her parents, Phyllis was pre-deceased by her husband, W. Aubrey Carter in 1980; two daughters, Shirley in 1954 and Marjorie in 1980 and by her foster son, Stephen in 1971.
Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Phyllis’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 2 pm. Following the service the burial will take place in the Point de Bute Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Phyllis may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
