Obituary of Ruth Annie Estabrooks

Point de Bute, N.B.- It is with great sadness that the family of Ruth Annie Estabrooks announce her passing on Monday, August 22, 2011 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Ruth was 75 years of age. Born on February 26, 1936 in Sackville, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Rhoda (Kaye) and Ross Hicks. Ruth was a thoughtful and strong- willed woman who was always willing to lend a hand if someone needed help. She was a wonderful mum and was loving and devoted to her family and friends. Ruth remained strong throughout her whole life, even through recent health challenges. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Ruth will be sadly missed by her daughter, Linda Beal; by her companion, Perry Sears; four brothers, Sheldon (Carolyn) Hicks, Arnold (Carol) Hicks, Oakley (Sandra) Hicks and Courtney Hicks; sister, Alberta VanHoecke; four grandchildren, Lyle (Krista) Beal, Brenda Beal (Steven Wells), Reggie (Cara) Beal and Mark Beal (Susan Amos); seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Nelson Estabrooks and two brothers, Mitchell and Kirk Hicks. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 7-9 pm and on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place at the Midgic Baptist Church on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 2 PM with Pastor Hal Lowther officiating. Burial will take place in the Midgic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ruth may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetic Association or to the charity of ones choice.
