Obituary of James Howard Kay
Dorchester, N.B.- It is with great sadness that the family of James Howard Kay announce his passing on Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Moncton Hospital. James was 90 years of age.
Born in Sackville, N.B. on July 12, 1921, he was the son of the late Emma (Fillmore) and Howard Kay.
James was in the army for 28 years, working as a dental assistant and received his Peace Keeping Medal in 2001. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #26, Sackville, for over 60 years, was an avid hunter, fisherman and curler and a member of the Sackville Curling Club, as well as a member of the Tantramar Twirlers with his wife Doreen. James was a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
James will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years, E. Doreen (Ward) Kay of Dorchester, N.B.; two daughters, Susan (Stewart) Geldart of Riverview, N.B. and Cathy Kay of Dorchester, N.B.; one son, Bruce Kay of Dorchester, N.B.; three sisters, Connie Walls of Ontario, Audrey ( Harry) Brooks of Vancouver, BC and Betty Connors of Truro, N.S.; two granddaughters, Lori (Robert) Crousse of Riverview, N.B. and Tina (Jon) Westrup of New Horton, N.B.; great-granddaughter, Lola Crousse of Riverview, N.B. and many nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his three sisters, Margaret, Daisy and Flossie; six brothers, Henry, Melbourne, Freddy, Elmer, Bobby and Donald; infant grandson, Scott Geldart and infant great-grandson, William Crousse.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Monday, November 7, 2011 from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Campbell’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Susan Estabrooks officiating. Burial will take place in the Dorchester Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James may be made to the Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of one’s choice.
