Obituary of Harriet Jean Estabrooks
Riverview,N.B.- Harriet Jean (Tilley) Estabrooks passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Grass Home in Riverview, N.B.
Born on September 16, 1921 in Guisborough, Yorkshire, England, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Ivy (Bulmer) Tilley.
Jean was a war bride, marrying Frank Estabrooks, whom she met while he was in England with the Canadian Army. She attended the Midgic Baptist Church where she was a very active member, teaching Sunday School, playing the piano and helping in many other ways. Jean was also the postmistress in Midgic for some years.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Ivy (Stanley) Bulmer; son, Albert (Lori); daughter-in-law, Mary Stokes; her much-loved grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Kirk, Sally, Ron, Becky and Allison and great-grandchildren, Justin, Kayla, Brooke, Dryden, Wyatt, Jared, Mason, Shelby and Keith; sisters, Doreen (Mercer), Margaret (Colin McLeod), Ivy (George Beal); brother, Ron (Tilley, Arvella); nieces and nephews, Michael, Mark, Leslie, Mary, Colin, Stacy, Michael, Janice and Mary; sister-in-law, Jean Tilley in England and several other nieces and nephews in England.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Frank D. Estabrooks; by her son Keith Estabrooks and by two brothers, Harry and Norman.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). The family will welcome visitors at the funeral home on Saturday, December 10, 2011 from 1-3 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Midgic Baptist Church on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 2:30 pm with Rev. Hal Lowther officiating. Burial will take place in the Midgic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jean may be made to the Midgic Baptist Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of ones choice.
