Obituary of George Arlington Hicks
Sackville, N.B.- It is with sadness, but peace of heart, that the family of Arlie Hicks announces his peaceful passing on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville. Arlie was 80 years of age.
Born on May 15, 1935 in Sackville, N.B., he was the son of the late Sherman and Eleanor (Sears) Hicks.
Arlie was a hardworking man who enjoyed working and spending time in his shed with friends. He had a very kind heart and loved his family and grandchildren very much. Arlie liked early morning wake ups, a hot cup of coffee and the radio.
Arlie will be lovingly remembered by his four sons, David (Ellen) Hicks of Sackville, N.B., Colin Hicks and Peter Hicks, both of Sackville, N.B. and Jeff Hicks of Kitchener, Ontario; one sister, Geraldine (Ed) McIntyre of Moncton, N.B.; four grandchildren, Ben, Katie, Alex and Samantha and by many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Arlie was pre-deceased by his wife, Marjorie Elaine (Pauley) Hicks; three sisters, Shirley, Olga and Audrey and by his two brothers, Lawrence and Conrad.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Arlie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service. A burial will take place at a later date in the Westcock Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Arlie may be made to the Drew Nursing Home, Sackville Memorial Hospital or to the charity of one’s choice.
